1st Place
El Diamante High School
Visalia Unified School District

This project is a theoretical Pathways High School that could be offered by Visalia Unified School District.  This high school would be committed to offering high school students with an interest and a passion for the performing arts a chance to explore these fields, ranging from drama to band to orchestra to choir and dance.  The learning environment also provides all standard core courses as well to provide a strong academic basis for these pursuits.  The high school would offer a standard four-year curriculum aimed at nurturing talents in the performing arts through a variety of possibilities offered by the facilities.  Students will experience both a sense of community and camaraderie with healthy amount of competition to drive them to the full extent of their abilities, whether they continue to pursue a career in the performing arts or not.  By the end of the curriculum, the students will be prepared for a multitude of careers related to performance and music.  Music, drama, and dance teachers in El Diamante have been consulted, as well as Victoria Porter, the principal of VTEC High School, which is a pathways high school for agricultural and animal-related fields.

The sole purpose of this high school campus is to offer a learning opportunity to any student who wants to pursue a career in any type of engineering such as, for example: aerospace, mechanical, biomedical, or civil.  The campus's theme is opportunity.  The opportunity to invest the time, the brain, and the interest into a growing industry/career in the engineering field.  The high school building is designed for the student to enter the building through the front double doors and take whichever the student wants to participate in.  For example: Turn left for Mechanical Engineering, turn right for Civil Engineering, or keep going straight for Aerospace Engineering.  This gives the student the opportunity to pursue any career of their choice within the engineering field.  Furthermore, the design also allows all the students to meet and congregate about their ideas on the top patio floor of the building.

At Everest High School our goal is to provide students with a fun but challenging educational environment.  We believe that the students should learn technological and collaborative skills to help them in today's advanced technological world.  Technological skills will help students in today's 21st century because it would help them to use critical thinking, questioning, to collaborate, to research and report, use software correctly, and compete with other students around the world.  The collaboration skills will help students engage in a group discussion with other students in a group drafting project or other in-class assignments.  Collaboration is important because it takes a group of people to carry on a challenging task, promotes the transfer of ideas, allows for the critique for each other's work, and finally allows students to learn from each other.  Providing a fun environment in which students in which students will want to learn will encourage them to make positive impact in their community and the world by expanding their communities and creating a better environment for other people.  Everest High School will provide students with skills that will help them in drafting, architecture, and engineering to create a better world.
