CASE STUDY SITE VISITS

Lindsay Wellness Center
860 North Sequoia, Lindsay, CA 93247

Case study visits are important to understand how other facilities are doing similar things for their school districts and communities.  The wellness center idea was developed in 2002 after the Lindsay District Hospital closed. The project was a partnership between the City of Lindsay and the Lindsay District Hospital board. The Wellness Center offers a membership based fitness area for adults with their best health and well-being in mind. In addition to individual and group fitness programs, the facility also offers informational nutrition and health classes which are free to the public.

Visalia Technical Education Center (VTEC)
2049 South Linwood St, Visalia, CA 93277

VTEC is a unique high school; accelerating and enriching the traditional pathway to a high school diploma.  As a WASC accredited, early college/career technical high school, they offer their students a "Hands-On" approach to learning with an emphasis on careers.  They work closely with their local community college, College of the Sequoias (COS), to enroll students into college level courses.  Since VTEC limits its enrollment, their learning environment is personal.  The Mission of VTEC is to give high school students a focused education that leads to a successful transition into college and career.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN CHARRETTE & DESIGN VILLAGE

Friday, April 15, 2016 - Sunday, April 17, 2016

Design Village and Open House
Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA 93407
Cal Poly | Architecture

During Open House weekend, students will continue their collaboration and design charrette with Professor Thomas Fowler's 3rd year Architecture Students and attend the Cal Poly Design Village as a spectator to witness some great student-built design projects.  As currently the only truly-native competition hosted by Cal Poly's prestigious undergraduate Architecture program, the Design Village competition has a long history and has become one of the most anticipated events of the year for the College of Architecture & Environmental Design (CAED). True to our "hand's on" experience, competitors design and build "shelters" in which said competitors inhabit their respective structures throughout the entirety of the weekend of Cal Poly's own Open House.
